ABOUT US

Produced by Big Yellow Taxi Productions and created by Sarah Ben-m’rad & Edward Gates, Talked About Media is not a podcast network. It is actually an anthology series designed specifically for TikTok - a narrative comedy hiding behind a hyper-realistic podcast parody.

Each season a new genre of podcast is satirized primarily in 1-minute episodes disguised as ‘highlights’ from a non-existent longer episode, lampooning the enormous levels of engagement generated by the often controversial, inspirational or pseudo educational content of these clips. This fictional production network ‘Talked About Media’ serves as the umbrella producer for all the imagined podcasts (think: Barstool Sports, Dear Media, Listnr, CADA) - t’s a fake podcast multiverse, if you will.

The first season follows host Andrew Bulkhead and his men’s interest podcast ‘The Final Boarding Call’, where he discusses maximising productivity, implementing CEO behaviour and daily habits to hack your full potential – as well as interviewing leaders in business, social media, fitness, and entrepreneurship about what makes them tick.

Told via posts to a TikTok fan account dedicated to Andrew, we first join him after a “near death” experience with a monkey in Bali (at which his wife was not present due to spending a separate leg of the trip at a stretching course with her personal trainer). Inspired by his near brush with the afterlife, he embarks on a 12-week challenge curated by “experts”; in fields like sleep, diet, exercise, spirituality and finance. And luckily for his listeners, they can complete the challenge alongside Andrew for $1800 (not including the meal plan).

The experts entirely reshape Andrew’s life, having him wear a corset to improve breathe flow, sleep in a float tank to mimic the womb, eat only British food as part of a bloodline-based diet and more. Due to these radical health and lifestyle changes his relationship with his regenerative kinesthetics practitioner wife is deteriorating behind the scenes, with a slow reveal that she and the kids will no longer allow him to stay at their 5-bedroom Tullamarine McMansion. The mental and physical toll on Andrew becomes increasingly clear as the episodes go on, and during a particularly manic podcast recording with his Spiritual Advisor the decision is made to face the source of where all his trauma began – the monkey that attacked him in Bali – to disastrous consequences.
